The River Course - a Community Favorite, Reimagined

Every designer has that one project that sits quietly on the hard drive — waiting for the right moment to come alive.
River Course was that one for me.

Originally started months ago as a community request, this course has been patiently waiting in the background while other projects took center stage. When I finally opened it back up, I realized how much potential it had — and how much I’d learned since the first pass.

This rebuild became a full creative reset. Every detail — from the flowing river system that winds alongside the fairways to the steep bluffs and wooded banks — was reshaped, repainted, and balanced to feel alive and believable from every angle.

🏞️ Built by Hand, Inspired by Nature

The River Course is one of my most complex terrain builds yet. The river alone runs through multiple holes, reflecting the light in completely different ways depending on the time of day and weather. The goal was realism — not just visually, but emotionally. You can almost feel the moisture in the air as mist rises off the water at sunrise.

Using Vegetation Studio Pro, I built layered biomes to transition naturally between floodplain lowlands, rocky riverbanks, and high forest ridges. You’ll find poplars, pines, and native shrubs along the edges, with grasses and mossy textures carefully tuned to create subtle, painterly contrast without losing performance.

💪 A Project Resurrected

This wasn’t a quick polish — it was a ground-up reinvention.
Lighting, water materials, and terrain painting were all rebuilt using new workflows I’ve refined across the past few courses. What started as a dormant file has turned into one of the most visually striking and atmospheric designs in the Tekbud portfolio.
