New England National - A Classic Reborn

It’s back — and better than ever.

New England National is my full rebuild of a classic northeast golf club, a beloved private course that vanished from the GSPro library years ago due to copyright issues. I’ve brought it back from the dead — fully rebuilt, retextured, and reimagined for the Tekbud era.

This is not a simple port. Every fairway, bunker edge, and wooded corridor was painstakingly recreated using the latest Tekbud biome and vegetation systems. From the subtle elevation shifts to the golden roughs and mossy stone outcroppings, this course now captures the rugged, handcrafted beauty that defines New England golf.

🌳 The Look and Feel

I leaned heavily on my NatureManufacture and SpeedTree libraries to bring the dense northeastern forest to life — mixing oaks, birches, maples, and beeches with a deep understory of ferns, clover, and rustic grasses drawn from my custom texture sets. The palette is rich but grounded — earthy tones, cool light, and painterly depth that feels alive at every turn.

The fairways use soft, low-cut blends with hand-painted texture transitions for realism. Around the greens, bentgrass and semi-rough textures merge seamlessly into the natural terrain. The bunkers are sculpted with subtle depth and true-to-life sand coloring, giving each shot the look of a real photograph under morning light.

New England National rewards strategy and creativity. It’s not the longest course — but it demands precision. Every miss is punished in the right way: thick roughs, rock faces, and native hazards all force you to think one shot ahead.

It’s a course designed to make you feel — the way real golf should.

💡 Behind the Build

This project pushed my Vegetation Studio Pro system further than ever, with multiple biomes blended for subtle variation across the course. The terrain and textures were fine-tuned through vertex painting and procedural rules to ensure the natural harmony you see in real-world environments.

It’s one of the most natural and immersive courses I’ve built to date — and it marks another step forward for Tekbud Designs’ growing collection of playable art.
