Cabot Cliffs – A Course Close to My Heart
Some courses are special because of their beauty. Others, because of how they play. Cabot Cliffs? It’s both. Easily one of the most breathtaking, uniquely character-rich courses I’ve ever had the pleasure of walking—and playing well on, which never hurts. I shot just a few over par on my only full round here, but honestly, the memories run deeper than the scorecard.
From the dramatic elevation changes to the signature Coore & Crenshaw shot values, Cabot Cliffs is simply unforgettable. I knew from the moment I left that round that I had to bring this place to life in GSPro.
That journey took longer than expected. LIDAR data was a long time coming—and even once it was available, it left a lot to be desired. Still, I pressed on. What you’ll find in this release is actually my fourth full iteration of the course. Each version got a little sharper, a little more refined. This one? I think it’s my best work yet.
I spent a ton of time re-carving the bunkers to better match their natural ruggedness, and I’ve implemented a new recipe for sculpting bunker lips that I’m especially excited about. It brings the sandscapes to life in a way that feels authentic and dramatic without going over the top.
Cabot Cliffs means a lot to me—and I hope that comes through when you play it. Enjoy the views. Enjoy the challenge. And if you happen to shoot a good number, well... even better.
